Mr MURPHY Glenn (3 people. December 3-4, Thac Ba Lake, Motorbike)

Accommodation: The accommodation was excellent. I had the best sleep in the 5 months I have been in Hanoi. The welcome we received from the village in Vu Linh was warm and friendly and a tribute to Vietnam Hospitality.

Food: The food was indeed well cooked and clean as we were told it would be from the outset. However, after private discussions with the other members of the group we came to the reality that we just did not like the food and we arrived back to Hanoi very hungry indeed. A motorbike trip involves a lot of energy and foreigners need food that will agree with them in order to be strong and able to deal with long journeys on a motorbike. If this trip lasted longer I probably would have told our guide that we needed food like pasta, bread, sugar, hot drinks, cheese, eggs, yoghurt…chocolate….more westernised foods. Perhaps for the first day you could ask the group to bring with them a packed lunch, sandwiches, fruit, chocolate etc. I think some canned food bought in Hanoi could be brought on the trips with us and then cooked in the villages at night time.

The organization - Guide services: This was perhaps the best part of the trip. I was thoroughly impressed with the organisation from the office and the pre-tour lessons on the bikes. It was my first time using a motorbike and through the help and support of our guide (Mr. Hung), I got the hang of using a Minsk motorbike quicker than I expected. Throughout the tour Mr. Hung was aware of where we were, advised us of the dangers to be aware of and was completely professional with everything that he did. He constantly had to circle back as we stopped to take photographs, toilet breaks, rests etc. He was very careful and never stopped smiling. He is also accomplished in several languages. I felt safe and secure throughout the trip.

The price: The price was reasonable and fair taking everything into account, petrol, food, motorbikes, accommodation, drinks, depreciation, clothing, guide services etc...

Other comments: I will, a soon as I get the chance, use the services of Voyage Vietnam again after such an enjoyable first experience. Their website, e-mail contacts and updates are professionally managed and their office location is ideal for first timers on motorbikes as the route out and into Hanoi does not involve major traffic obstacles.
