DISCOVER GOLDEN TRIANGLE
6 days / 5 nights.
Day 1: Luang Prabang - Hong Sa. ~180 km/~140 km, ~5 h/~4 h.
Depending on the weather and the road conditions at the time of the trip, we have two options:
Option 1:
From Luang Prabang we take a boat to cross to the other side of the Mekong River and then begin our trip right on the piste. This road is only about 140 km but dirt and bumpy. Picnic lunch will be provided on road.
Option 2:
Follow the direction to Xayaboury Province for the lunch in the capital of the province then turn into the off-road along the Thai border.
Day 2: Hong Sa - Xieng Neon. ~105 km, ~3 h.
Continue our trip on the trail; we will have time to explore the wild land and local culture
Day 3: Xieng Neon - Hay Xian. ~80 km, ~2,5 h + ~3 h boating.
After an hour riding we will meet the Mekong River, carry our bikes on to the Long Tail boat to cruise up stream the Mekong for 3 hours and then continue the riding on the other side of the river. We will have plenty of time to visit hill tribe villages.
Day 4: Hay Xian - Xieng Dao. ~130 km, ~4-5 h.
This is the most challenging day on the off-road riding through the Golden Triangle. Crossing numerous streams heading up hill into the sky then going downhill to hell.
Over night in a village at the river-bank looking over to Myanmar.
Day 5: Xieng Dao - Xieng Kok - Muong Sinh - Luang Nam Tha. ~130 km, ~3 h + ~1 h boating.
After about an hour boating, get off at Xieng Kok and return to the mainland of Laos and ride to Muong Sing for lunch and short walk to villages of Akha ethnic.
Drive for the last 60 km on good road to Luang Nam Tha for an overnight stay.
Day 6: Luang Nam Tha - Udomxay - Luang Prabang. ~300 km, ~6 - 7 h.
The longest day of the trip but mainly riding on good road.
